YUDC's mission is to optimize York University’s assets through strategic advisory and real estate development, thereby advancing its academic mission, strengthening its global appeal and creating enduring institutional value.

Our Approach
Public sector ethos with private sector mentality, keeping University interests at the centre.
YUDC combines a deep understanding of York University's priorities with the stewardship and accountability expected of a public institution, while working with the rigour of the private sector. This unique combination enables the organization to seek and create opportunities that optimize York University's assets while applying the expertise required to deliver them.
What We Do
Neighbourhood Development
We bring together planning, design, infrastructure coordination and stakeholder engagement to transform underutilized land into purposeful districts. This generates economic value and supports existing and future communities.
Project & Construction Management
We guide complex infrastructure projects from early planning through design, construction and delivery. The highest standards are consistently maintained through stakeholder alignment, budget discipline and proactive risk and schedule management.
Transaction Management
We structure, negotiate and execute real estate transactions on behalf of the University, ensuring risks are mitigated, financial outcomes are optimized and the academic mission and student experience remain at the forefront.
Asset Optimization
We own, operates and manage York Lanes Mall—a flagship asset serving as a social and retail destination in the heart of Keele Campus. The 121,000-square-foot shopping centre features over 25 retailers offering a variety of goods and services to the campus community.

YUDC History
YUDC was founded in 1985 with a clear mission: develop the lands around a rapidly expanding Keele campus. As York University grew from a remote regional university into a globally engaged, research-intensive urban institution, YUDC’s role has grown with it—from facilitating the University’s physical growth, to a strategic partner shaping future opportunities.
