Kaneff Tower/Archives of Ontario

A landmark, 9-storey administrative and research tower on York University’s Keele Campus, featuring advanced sustainable design and housing one of Canada’s largest public archives.

Through an innovative public-private partnership, YUDC created a signature nine-storey landmark that delivers dual value housing one of Canada’s largest public archival repositories while providing state-of-the-art space for York University’s senior leadership and Board of Governors. This purposeful integration of provincial research infrastructure with university administrative functions demonstrates how strategic partnerships can optimize land use and serve multiple stakeholders within a single cohesive development.

YUDC positioned this innovate partnership to maximize strategic value: locating major provincial research infrastructure at the heart of one of Ontario’s largest university campuses, adjacent to a publicly funded transit expansion. It was the first building on the Keele Campus to receive LEED-Silver certification.
